One of our principles is to establish a dialectic, using the functions and necessities of a given site. Each new place is thus the opportunity for a realization that modifies, punctuates, or intensifies a particular perception of space and time.

We base our artistic interventions on natural phenomena and exploit archaic technics or use modern technologies such as dichroic glasses, LED lights, fiber optics, and computer media. Our projects require various fields of expertise, from craftsmanship to industrial work.

As a designer, Atelier D. Schlaepfer collaborates with various specialists (computer scientists, electronics engineers, locksmiths, painters, cabinetmakers, photographers, etc.), depending on the needs of each project. Our work is thus based on the integration of various skills and the association of our competences with those of different experts.

The Atelier has set many artistic installations up in Switzerland and abroad (France, Portugal, the Nederlands, India, China, Bolivia, the United-States). Our artworks have been displayed in contemporary art exhibitions (Bex, Môtiers, etc.), have been part of urban events (Arbres en Lumière, Lux festival, Artonscience, etc.), and presented in national and international conferences (EPFL, Swissnex, etc.).

The Atelier responds to the particular requests of private clients and public entities (Districts, Cantons, or Confederation) to create specific and unique projects by adapting to the needs of the locations or specific events.
